When researching film magazines based upon the horror genre, I have found that there seems to be a gap in the market as the number of magazines purely focused on horror alone are lacking. This suggests that the magazine industry may have found that horror fans are quite a niche audience and therefore do not think the magazine will be as successful as other genres of film. It also may mean that the horror genre is not taken as serious as others, for example, popular genres such as action may be regarded higher. However, it could also mean that perhaps horror films are more successful in terms of viewing figures and therefore need less promotion.
With this information, I have decided that as there are so many action magazines (suggesting they are most successful) and less horror magazines, I will create a mixture of the two to ensure that my target audience is broad and therefore my magazine will be successful.
